The software design of the SIEMENS system is complex and functional, and it is usually installed and debugged by a programmer and computer. And in some systems (such as: 810/820), a large amount of data, including PLC programs, is stored in battery-powered RAM, once these data are lost, the machine tool must be readjusted, and even need to reprogram the PLC program, so we must pay attention to the protection of system software and data.

For example, Table 3-1 lists the data composition and storage modes of the 810/820 system. As can be seen from the table, categories I and III are relatively easy to recover on-site due to their storage methods or data sources. However, the second type of data (including PLC user programs, alarm texts, NC and PC machine tool data) is the data compiled by the machine tool manufacturer and adjusted and optimized, which is the key to the CNC machine tool, and is stored in the RAM memory submodule powered by the battery, so it is easy to clear and modify; Once these contents are rewritten or lost, the entire machine will not work properly, therefore, the protection of Class II software and data is very prominent in the 810/820 system, and the following measures should be taken to protect these software and data:

1) Back up the system software and data through the PC IN software, store it on a disk (or CD-ROM), and preferably print it in the form of text for proofreading and manual input. When the machine tool is delivered, the machine tool manufacturer shall provide the user with the necessary information for the machine tool.

2) Because the system software and data can be cleared and modified through operation, although it brings convenience to the adjustment of the machine tool, if it is not managed well, it will also cause human failure. In particular, the initialization operation of the system is very likely to delete the system software and data, so it is necessary to set a password and establish a corresponding system to prevent misoperation. In addition, it is best to modify the machine data and carry out the initial adjustment work by the maintenance personnel to prevent human failure.

3) The 810/820 system has a variety of specifications, and the software of various specifications is self-contained. Early software (GAl, GA2 versions)

There are some defects, if the operation is not done properly, it is easy to cause some failures, and the normal working state can be re-established through initialization during maintenance. Later software (after GA3) is quite complete and generally does not recur. Different versions of the software have specific requirements for the boot chip, and the software cannot be mixed, otherwise the system will not boot normally. In addition, different versions of the software have differences in the definition of machine data, how to adjust it, and even the configuration of the working status and display screen. When the maintenance personnel deal with the fault, they should deal with it accordingly for different software versions. Table 3-1 810/820 system software and data composition list.
